Emma Biggs and Matthew Collings make abstract paintings that, through the systematic use of colour allocation across the surface of their paintings, create the effect of shifting light and processes that occur in the landscape. The repetitive shapes and colours, as well as a structure reminiscent of a musical score, builds up a sense of momentum and change that exceeds the painting’s visual and material elements.
