From press release:
Jasone Miranda-Bilbao’s work in this exhibition consists of a series of images of plants and flowers from the garden at Mecklenburgh Square, placed directly on the ground. The photographs have been taken using a medium format camera whose viewfinder is horizontal rather than vertical and images appear inverted right to left. The viewer looks through the camera toward the horizontal plane of the ground underneath. The images are printed as originally seen through the camera, flipped right to left. Like photographs, the idea that the sun rises in the east and moves towards the west is an optical illusion as the sun is motionless and earth spins around it. Our relation with our surroundings is equally inseparable from our relation to light and movement.
