Our relationship to meat is a product of and reflects the tension in our relationship to the natural world.

From artist:

The meat series.
The real and the romantic. A dichotomy.

The meat series arose from the dilemma of the realities of products of farming and the romantic heritage of the Lake District landscape, the Romantic Idealism of the landscapes and the modern realism of unglamorous farming and rearing of animals for meat.

The meat in the landscape series alludes to an ongoing dialogue between the manmade landscape, sculpted by farming practices and the notion of the Romantic wilderness of the traditional Lake District Landscape painters. The jarring but alluring juxtapositions of the cuts of meat taken from a cooking manual collide with the picturesque landscapes of postcards from the Lake District.
