Kate Smith’s sound piece is an overheard conversation, a pigeon breeder discussing how to identify the health of pigeons and which ones will be good racers and breeders based on their physical features and bloodlines. The evident care for his pigeons is a clear contrast to the invisibility or active dislike of pigeons in the city, making a connection between ‘city’ and ‘country’ and drawing attention to the nature of their relationship.
